⚠️ Tax Disclaimer: This tool is for estimation purposes only and does not constitute tax advice. The IRS standard mileage rate shown ($0.725/mile for 2026) applies to business miles driven in tax year 2026. If you have trips from prior years, those must use the rate for that year (2025: $0.70, 2024: $0.67). Always verify the current rate at irs.gov and consult a qualified tax professional before claiming mileage deductions.

IRS Mileage Deduction for Contractors

The IRS allows self-employed contractors and business owners to deduct business miles driven. The 2026 standard mileage rate is $0.725 per mile. To qualify, the trip must be business-related — driving to job sites, picking up materials, meeting clients, or running business errands all count. Commuting from home to your regular office does not.

Keep this log throughout the year and export it as a PDF to share with your accountant or attach to your tax return. The IRS recommends recording date, destination, purpose, and mileage for each trip. Your data is saved locally in your browser — nothing is sent to any server.

What Miles Can I Deduct?

Any driving that's directly related to your business qualifies: traveling to job sites, visiting clients for estimates, picking up supplies from the hardware store, attending trade shows, or driving to meet your accountant. Keep a log and you can deduct thousands of dollars each tax year.
